Saeco was founded in 1981 by Arthur Schmed and Sergio Zappell. They launched the first household bean to cup coffee machine in 1985 then in 1999 Saeco bought Gaggia another historical brand of espresso machine making.
Saeco was bought by the Dutch manufacturer, Philips in 2009.
The Most known invention includes the cappuccinatore (1996), automatic brewing pressure adaption "SBS" (1999) and bluetooth enabled technology in GranBaristo Avanti (2013).
